OUR HISTORY

How it all came to be…

Prime Print Shop opened its doors for the first time almost 25 years ago, in the summer of 2000. For Daniel Clark, it was a dream come true. After working for others in the print industry for 15 years, he now had his own business, where he could truly focus on extremely high-quality printing and great customer care. Born and bred right here in Poughkeepsie, his community involvement and love of personal interaction came natural to Daniel. This was his home.

They say that good begets good, and this is precisely what occurred with Prime Print Shop. Just a few years after opening shop, Daniel’s business was soaring. His reputation as a down-to-earth, helpful person and boss preceded him, and he soon brought other printing aficionados on board to help run the shop.

Word was getting around that Daniel’s helpful nature, and attention to detail and quality was unsurpassed. Always fascinated with the latest technology and state-of-the art software, he used the profits from his success to purchase new machines so that he could control the quality of the printing and do more of the work in house. The investment was noticed and appreciated, and soon the business began to grow.

With hundreds of repeat customers and new friends, the shop continued to grow—and Daniel continued to give back. Prime Print Shop is a proud sponsor of Mid-Hudson Arts, the Poughkeepsie Inaugural Pride Parade, and more. Prime Print Shop received the Duchess County Small Business of the Year award and received a citation from the New York State Art Teachers Association. The list goes on, including an article in Livelihood Magazine entitled “Prime Print shop: Putting People above Profits”.

Today, Prime Print Shop works out of their third location that’s big enough to house even more machines with more advanced technology. The shop has five highly experienced employees, plus two special workers named Phoebe and Tootie who ensure that all customers stay happy, and all employees stay focused. These girls take their jobs very seriously, and they’re not beyond being bribed by treats. Especially Phoebe, who insists on being top dog.
